Why Green Tea?
The benefits of drinking green tea date back
thousands of years to ancient China and it's touted as a “wonder” drink
for its curative properties. Green tea is unfermented and undergoes less processing
than black tea and therefore contains higher
concentrations of healthy antioxidants.
Numerous scientific and medical studies indicate
green tea may actually help lower the risk of
cardiovascular disease and keep the body healthy by protecting cells from
the damaging effects of free radicals. (Free
radicals occur naturally in the body and are known to corrupt DNA, alter
cells and even cause cell death). Antioxidants such as the
polyphenols in green tea can neutralize these compounds and may even reduce or
help prevent some of the destruction they create. Other studies point to
the tea’s role in lowering total cholesterol, preventing and/or slowing the
progression of diabetes, aiding in weight loss and maintaining a healthy liver.
EGCG - The SuperAntioxidant
While green tea contains an
array of healthy antioxidants, the most studied and revered is
epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG. We like to call it the “SuperAntioxidant” because
it’s so powerful. You’ll be glad to know that every serving of fizzytea®
contains 150mg of the stuff, not to mention 375mg total polyphenols. Compare
that to other teas out there – you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
